Fast by default.
Lean software, built to stay quick in daily use.
Adelaide, SA
I’m Alex. I build the software a business runs on: internal tools, automations, integrations, dashboards, apps and websites. Apps cover iPhone, Android and Windows, from one codebase where that’s useful. No templates, no page builders, no bloat. You deal with me from the first chat to launch day and after.
why handcoded
Off-the-shelf software is built for a general case. It gets awkward the moment your work doesn’t match the demo. I build the software for how you actually operate: lean, fast, and yours to keep.
Lean software, built to stay quick in daily use.
Your domain, your code, your accounts, in your name. No lock-in.
The person you brief is the person who builds it and picks up the phone when you need a change.
01 — what I build
01
Business software, internal tools, dashboards and web apps, written for the way your team already works. When the spreadsheet is the system, I replace it.
02
Mobile and desktop apps for iPhone, Android and Windows: booking, field work, and the tools your staff keep on a desk or in a pocket.
03
The repeated copy-paste between inbox, spreadsheet and accounts. I replace those steps with something that runs, and leave a person in the loop where a person belongs.
04
When two systems should talk and don’t, I connect them. APIs, webhooks, and the awkward bit in the middle, including tools like Xero, Stripe or Google.
05
Fast websites. Designed around your customers, built to be found on Google, and easy to call, book or enquire from.
06
After launch I stay on for fixes, small changes and the next version. You call the person who built it. This isn’t a packaged care plan.
Not sure which you need? That’s normal. Tell me the problem and I’ll tell you honestly what will fix it, even if that’s something off the shelf. Talk it through
02 — process
A free, no-pressure call or coffee in Adelaide. You tell me what’s not working; I ask a lot of questions.
A clear written scope, timeline and price before anything starts. No hourly-rate guessing.
You see how it’ll look and work before the build starts, and we refine it together.
I build it and share progress as I go, so you’re never waiting in the dark.
I test it on real devices, take it live, and stick around for updates, fixes and what’s next.
03 — work
Swoledex, a strength training and lifestyle app. It isn’t in the stores yet.
01 — Mobile app
A strength training and lifestyle app for iPhone, Android, and the web. Launching soon.
The approach
It runs on iPhone, Android, and the web. Drift (SQLite) keeps data on the device for offline use. Supabase is the backend. RevenueCat handles subscriptions. Firebase Cloud Messaging and Crashlytics are part of the stack, and golden tests cover the interface. The visual language is the Vesper design system. It isn’t in the stores yet.
The build
iOS, Android, and web
04 — the deal
No account managers, no hand-offs, no offshore subcontracting. Just me.
I’ll explain what you’re paying for and why, without the jargon.
Clean, documented code that another developer could pick up, so you’re never held hostage.
I’m in Adelaide, on Adelaide time. Call, email, or catch up in person.
05 — questions
Straight answers. If yours isn’t here, send it anyway.
Every project is different, so I quote after a quick chat about what you need. You’ll get a clear, written quote before any work starts, with no hidden extras.
It depends on the scope. I’ll give you a realistic timeline in your quote, before any work starts.
Yes. I build mobile apps for iPhone and Android, and desktop apps for Windows.
Yes, if you want to. I can set up simple editing for the content you change often, or just handle updates for you.
I’ll set up fast, reliable hosting and help with your domain and business email. Everything stays in your name.
I’m based in Adelaide and love working with local businesses, but I work with clients anywhere in Australia by video call.
Often, yes. I’ll take an honest look and tell you whether it’s worth fixing or starting fresh.
let’s talk
Tell me what you need, or what’s not working. I’ll get back to you personally.
